Is my girlfriend being unreasonable...
Anonymous: Me and my girlfriend have been together for a month or two, and just recently she's said she wants to stay over at mine. However, there is one condition: that the 5ft pterodactyl-type cuddly toy I have isn't in the house. I grant that its eyes are a tad creepy, and it's a bit tatty, but I don't want to leave it in the shed overnight. I've had it since I was tiny (I loved it 'cos I felt protected when sleeping with it) and I don't want it getting damp or cobwebby or dirty. I've suggested that it's left in another room, but that's not enough for her. Should I tell her to get over it, or just do what she says?
Noémie, Imperial Overlord of The Student Room: yeah she should get over it, just put it downstairs or something. come off it.
heart shaped box: She's overreacting. Leaving it in another room would be fine! Unless she has a phobia of cuddly toys..
Smoosh: It sounds creepy, but I think she's overreacting about not letting you keep it in another room.
Chiko 1001: This thread's title had me about as interested as a title possibly could. I can honestly say, congratulations on confusing me more than any other thread has. In response to the issue at hand, she's overreacting.
yoshifumu: Thats quite joke, She's only justified if she has a fear of cuddly toys as suggested, which to be honest doesn't sound that wierd... Otherwise just say you'll keep it in a room, and she won't see it. shouldn't be a problem tbh...
thetopnotch: 5ft!!! that's impressive Talk to her about it and work out some sort of compromise i guess, if you tell her how you feel about leaving it in the shed then maybe you could compromise by leaving it in a room where she won't go when she's in the house.
thompsonbassman: just put it in another room and say its not in the house or some ****.
puddlove: She sounds a bit weird. Why can't he just go in another room? It's basically the same thing as him sleeping in the shed, it's not like he's gonna be able to get out. Crazy! Stand your ground
Delta Usafa: She's being unreasonable. Teach her a lesson by hiding the pterodactyl in the closet. When she falls asleep, get up, take the pterodactyl out of the closet, and put it up against her. She'll then wrap her arms around it in her sleep, and will wake up t a wonderful surprise.
SpiritedAway: I think this is the best titled thread I have ever come across . In answer to your thread, yes, she is being unreasonable. Surely though, it is possible to hide it in another room and then she's not to know.
Schmokie Dragon: I think she should get the **** over it. Sure, if she finds it too creepy to have in the room then I'd definitely advocate you putting it somewhere else . . . but in the shed, where it is wet and smelly and risks damp/mould? It's one thing to be considerate and another to have to tip-toe around the extreme sensibilities of others.Plus - pterodactyls are awesome.
Melting Sugar: Put it in the loft. As you've admitted, it is a little creepy..
